The French Laundry is a French restaurant located in the Napa Valley in California USA. The restaurant building is over a century owned and was founded by French chef Thomas Keller in 1978. The restaurant prides itself as Napa Valley’s best spot for French cuisines with an American taste.
The name of the restaurant was inspired by the building which was originally owned by John Lande in the 1920s who used it for the purpose of a French steam laundry. It was later sold to Don Schmidt in 1978 who turned it into a restaurant and later sold it to Keller in 1994.
The restaurant boast of tasting menus that will leave visitors to Napa Valley culinary experiences like never before experienced. Head chef and owner Thomas Keller has raised the bar in the culinary industry with French cuisines with an American twist that can’t be experienced anywhere else in the world. The restaurant serves two separate nine-course menus on a daily basis. Each menu is prepared with a different ingredient to add a variety of taste to the robust menu. The old stone house that is The French laundry itself is a sight to behold, over a hundred years and still standing strong. Visitors are also welcomed to bring their own bottle of wine provided that it is not available on the restaurants’ list, this attracts a fee and guest are only limited to one bottle for every two people.
The restaurant is also available for private parties, with a dedicate dining team that assists in planning parties and events for not more than 14 guests. With the mouth watery menus and wines available, coupled with the unbeatable customer service little wonder the French Laundry has a 3 star Michelin rating.
