We Might Have A Release Date For Tesla Model Y
Elon Musk has revealed on his Twitter account that the new Tesla Model Y will officially be released in 2019. According to Musk, the compact SUV might be available for purchase in the first half of 2019. Responding to a tweet, he mentioned that the idea of a March release sounds good. A follow-up tweet confirmed that he is serious about a possible release around March 15th.
Tesla CEO has recently been involved in a few controversies. These include his inability to meet the deadlines for release, sharing information or answering the questions of shareholders, self-driving car crashes, inability to meet the order demands, etc. This has made people question the credibility of his word. He is known to give dates for releases which are unrealistic. We will need to wait and see if the company can meet this deadline.
As far as information regarding the new Model Y is concerned, the company has been able to successfully maintain secrecy. Not much information has leaked, so the public knowledge regarding the compact SUV is minimal. Apart from a picture of Model Y having no side mirrors, which was released last year as a teaser, no substantial facts have been discovered yet. Apart from Elon’s tweet regarding the possible release, there is not much evidence to support the release date. However, it is good to have a possible estimated time of arrival.
It is a positive sign that Model 3 deliveries are getting back on schedule. This might allow the company to now focus on the next step, which will be the Tesla Model Y. Let’s hope that Elon sticks to his word this time and we can place orders for the new electric car in the first half of next year. He might be able to pull it off if he stops spending too much energy and time bashing reporters and media on Twitter and concentrates his talent and skills on making revolutionary electric cars.
